Lead Software Engineer - Ruby On Rails

My client is searching for a conscientious and driven Senior Full Stack Engineer with a strong background in Ruby on Rails and client-side JavaScript frameworks. You'll collaborate with an exceptional team of problem solvers and innovators, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Your Role:

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:

  • Build and enhance the platform by developing new features and optimising existing ones in collaboration with the product team.
  • Design and implement APIs for web and mobile applications.
  • Integrate with cutting-edge third-party tools and services.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex bugs and performance challenges.
  • Maintain and refine the backend infrastructure supporting web and mobile applications.
  • Experiment with new technologies to drive innovation.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Extensive Ruby on Rails experience, especially working with large data sets and stable back-end integration techniques (Postgres expertise is highly desirable ).
  • A proven ability to design and implement back-end components.
  • Expertise in creating and maintaining APIs, alongside proficiency in libraries like Sidekiq, Twilio, and Devise.
  • Solid understanding of front-end technologies such as Stimulus JS, ES6, and CSS3.
  • Hands-on experience with version control tools like Git and testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with performance tools such as NewRelic, Datadog, or PGHero.
  • Experience building GraphQL APIs is a bonus.

Preferred Skills:

  • Turbolinks / Hotwire
  • ElasticSearch
  • Kafka or other streaming/queuing systems
