Senior Frontend Engineer

Job description.

Senior Frontend Engineer (React + AWS)

Location: Belfast (Remote)
Ref: OCHO-SFE0425
OCHO - Building Teams

We're partnered with an established yet fast-moving technology company based in Belfast that's building real impact at scale - powering workflows for some of the world's largest enterprises. Their engineering culture is modern, modular, and product-led - and they're looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer who thrives in TypeScript ecosystems, understands cloud-native architecture, and has a keen eye for well-engineered, scalable interfaces.

This team is deeply collaborative, with a flat structure and strong emphasis on knowledge-sharing, performance, and autonomy. You'll be contributing across design, development, testing, observability, and CI/CD - not just shipping UI, but owning how the platform functions end-to-end.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading the design and implementation of frontend applications using React (Hooks, Context, TypeScript) in a modern monorepo architecture.

  • Building scalable frontend systems powered by AWS, integrating with serverless APIs and event-driven backends.

  • Owning frontend code quality, performance, and accessibility, with a strong focus on developer experience and reusability (think Storybook-style component libraries).

  • Mentoring and pairing with engineers, helping shape best practices in testing (Jest, Cypress), release automation, and frontend observability.

  • Contributing to platform-wide decisions, from auth and analytics to real-time event streaming and PWA optimisation.

  • Collaborating with backend and DevOps engineers in a CI/CD-led environment using modern infrastructure tooling (GitHub Actions, Terraform, ArgoCD, etc.).

What We're Looking For

  • 6+ years' commercial experience, including React + TypeScript at scale.

  • Strong architectural instincts - you've built or refactored monorepos, component libraries, or large-scale applications.

  • Hands-on experience with AWS, ideally including Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, and S3.

  • DevOps-aware mindset - you're comfortable discussing pipelines, deployments, and performance budgets.

  • Proven success in collaborative teams and a passion for mentoring and technical leadership.

  • Bonus if you've worked with NestJS, Next.js, GraphQL, WebSockets, or mobile/PWA delivery pipelines.

What's on Offer

  • Competitive salary + performance bonus

  • 25 days holiday + public holidays

  • Remote-first with flexible hours

  • Health and wellness programme

  • Regular tech talks, team meetups, and L&D budget

  • Clear progression framework

  • 10% (individual ) and 10% ( company ) pension allowance
