Business Analyst

Job description.

Business Analyst - Strategic & Finance Process Improvement

Location: Belfast (Hybrid: 3 days office / 2 days remote)

Team Size: 4 (Manager, Senior BA, BA, new hire)

Role Summary:

We're seeking a Business Analyst who thrives in a strategic, initiation-stage role, someone who can connect big-picture business goals with practical, data-driven solutions. The first year will focus heavily on finance process improvement, but you'll also work across multiple business areas within a professional services environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiation-stage analysis: Work with stakeholders and enterprise architects to shape project scope, gather high-level requirements, and prepare robust business cases.
  • Finance process improvement: Analyse current billing, invoicing, and WIP processes to identify quick wins and strategic changes.
  • Business case production: Develop clear, evidence-based proposals for C-suite decision-making.
  • Stakeholder management: Build trust quickly with stakeholders at all levels, from operational teams to executives.
  • Process mapping & recommendations: Present findings in a clear, accessible way for both operational staff and senior leadership.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • 2-3+ years' experience as a Business Analyst (professional services or finance sector preferred).
  • Proven delivery of finance process improvements.
  • Strong track record in business case development and ROI analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to build rapport with challenging stakeholders.
  • Skilled in process mapping (UML, BPMN, or other).
  • Tech-agnostic; ERP/CRM knowledge (Dynamics 365 or similar) advantageous but not required.

Ideal Background:

  • Professional services (legal, accountancy, consultancy, financial services).
  • Mix of finance operations knowledge and BA project experience.
  • Comfortable managing 3-4 concurrent projects in a fast-moving environment.

Why Join:

  • Small, high-impact BA team where your work directly shapes firm strategy.
  • Variety: finance will be your first focus, but you'll contribute across multiple business areas.
  • Growing presence in Belfast with plans for a central city office within 12 months.
