Overview
Our client is expanding its Belfast engineering hub and seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead multiple cross-functional product teams delivering scalable, cloud-native solutions that support a global technology platform.
This role is suited to an experienced technical leader who combines strategic thinking, delivery excellence, and a deep understanding of modern software engineering practices. You'll work closely with product, architecture, and operations leadership to build high-performing teams and deliver impactful software at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and coach multiple engineering teams to deliver high-quality software in an agile, collaborative environment.
Build and retain top-tier talent; foster a culture of ownership, inclusion, and technical excellence.
Guide career growth through 1:1s, feedback, and development planning.
Technical Direction & Delivery
Partner with senior engineers and architects to define long-term technical strategies aligned with platform goals.
Drive best practices in engineering, testing, DevOps, and CI/CD automation.
Ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability across systems built primarily in React, Node.js, Python, and AWS.
Balance technical innovation with delivery speed and quality.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with product management and design to prioritise roadmaps and align technical delivery with business outcomes.
Communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences - connecting engineering progress to commercial value.
Support coordination across time zones and distributed teams (US and EU).
Operational Excellence
Own delivery KPIs: throughput, quality, and stability.
Improve developer productivity through tooling, automation, and process refinement.
Contribute to incident management, risk assessment, and continuous improvement cycles.
About You
Proven track record leading 2+ engineering teams (10-20 engineers total) in a fast-paced SaaS or product-focused environment.
Strong technical background - ideally from full-stack or backend engineering before moving into leadership.
Experience with AWS, TypeScript/JavaScript (React, Node.js), and modern CI/CD pipelines.
Demonstrable ability to attract, develop, and retain high-performing engineers.
Pragmatic, outcome-oriented leader who values clear communication, accountability, and technical craft.
Experience scaling systems and teams for enterprise-grade, cloud-native products.
