Trading Systems Support Engineer (Level 2)

Belfast (Hybrid)

The Opportunity

You will join an experienced and highly capable team responsible for the implementation and Level 2 support of trading systems that underpin core revenue generating activity. This is a business facing role with real exposure to production systems, stakeholders, and senior engineering teams.

The Role

You will be responsible for the day to day support, implementation, and ongoing reliability of trading applications across multiple environments. Working closely with senior engineers and development teams, you will help ensure systems are performant, resilient, and well documented.

This role combines operational support with engineering focused work, including scripting, automation, tooling, and process improvement.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Monitor and support trading applications to ensure availability, performance, and stability

  • Act as Level 2 support for incidents and service requests escalated by the business

  • Implement application changes including fixes, upgrades, and enhancements in line with agreed standards

  • Build and maintain trading applications and third party dependencies across staging and production

  • Develop scripts using PowerShell, Bash, Perl, and SQL to automate deployment, monitoring, and health checks

  • Create and maintain operational documentation including runbooks and troubleshooting guides

  • Participate in production support calls, incident reviews, and change discussions

  • Own changes through the full change management lifecycle

  • Manage ticket queues and contribute to incident resolution within agreed SLAs

  • Operate in line with ITIL based processes across Incident, Change, Request, and Problem management

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Strong experience with Windows Server environments

  • Unix or Linux experience, ideally at power user level

  • SQL experience including T SQL and SQL Server Management Studio

  • Working knowledge of networking and connectivity tools such as SSH, SFTP, and traceroute

  • Scripting experience using PowerShell, Bash, or Perl

  • Solid understanding of change management processes

  • Experience working with monitoring and observability tooling

  • Strong understanding of ITIL based support models

  • Proven analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with automation tooling such as Ansible, Jenkins, or similar

  • Exposure to HTML, JavaScript, and CSS

  • Additional experience working with SQL databases
