Senior Test Automation Engineer

Job description.

Test Automation Engineer

Location: Belfast
Working Model: Hybrid
Engagement: Permanent

OCHO is partnering with a high-growth global technology organisation building out its Belfast engineering function.

This is a key hire within the QA Automation team, focused on strengthening automated testing capability using modern tooling and TypeScript-based frameworks.

The Belfast technology team is established and operational, with continued hiring planned across technical and business functions. Growth will be measured and performance-driven, with long-term ambition to increase ownership and capability locally.

The Opportunity

This role sits within a test automation function responsible for building and maintaining robust automated test frameworks across a modern engineering platform.

You will work with Playwright and TypeScript to enhance, extend, and maintain the automation framework, ensuring quality and reliability across the product suite.

This is not a manual QA position. It is an engineering-led automation role requiring technical depth and hands-on coding capability.

What You'll Be Doing

* Developing and maintaining automated test suites using Playwright
* Writing automation scripts in TypeScript
* Contributing immediately to an existing automation framework
* Supporting CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution
* Collaborating with engineering teams to ensure test coverage across new features
* Identifying gaps in automation and improving framework structure

You will be expected to operate with minimal ramp-up time and contribute from the outset.

What We're Looking For

* Strong commercial experience in Test Automation
* Proven hands-on experience with Playwright
* Strong TypeScript capability
* Solid understanding of automated testing principles and frameworks
* Comfortable operating in a QA / Test Automation capacity

Development experience is advantageous but not required.

Engineers transitioning from development into QA will be considered, provided they are genuinely committed to an automation-focused career path.

This team is looking for long-term QA capability, not short-term stepping stones.

The Team & Growth

The Belfast IT and Technology function is established and growing.

* Engineering capability is live and operational
* Business-side hiring is ongoing
* Expansion is structured and performance-led
* There is long-term ambition to increase Belfast ownership

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a growing engineering centre with real impact.

Why Apply

* Modern automation stack
* Growing Belfast technology function
* Long-term expansion plans
* Strong engineering culture
* Opportunity to shape automation capability locally
