Contract Business Analyst (Outside IR35)

Job description.

Contract Business Analyst - Outside IR35

Overview
Ocho is delighted to be working on behalf of our client to appoint an experienced Contract Business Analyst to join a data-centric product team.

This role exists to act as the steward of business intent across the full delivery lifecycle, ensuring that the "why" behind features, data products and analytics outcomes is always clear, testable and preserved from discovery through to production.

You will reduce delivery friction by eliminating ambiguity, aligning stakeholders early and enabling engineers and testers to build with confidence.

Key Responsibilities
Lead discovery sessions to uncover and clarify true business intent
Challenge solution-led requests and reframe discussions around measurable outcomes
Define clear, testable success criteria
Translate business intent into outcome-focused user stories and acceptance criteria
Ensure requirements are minimal, unambiguous and automation-friendly
Collaborate closely with engineers to align requirements with data platform patterns
Act as an ongoing partner throughout the SDLC rather than a handoff point
Validate delivered outcomes against original intent and support UAT and feedback loops
Continuously refine backlog items based on insight and operational learning

The Person We Are Looking For
Proven experience as a Business Analyst within data-centric or platform-led teams
Strong ability to uncover and articulate intent behind complex business problems
Comfortable working with data concepts, metrics and analytics semantics
Experience writing inherently testable, outcome-driven requirements
Strong facilitation and stakeholder alignment skills
Experience working in agile, continuous delivery environments
Regulated or financial domain experience desirable
