The Role:
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and mentor a high-performing team of software engineers, combining technical leadership with people management to deliver scalable, high-quality products.
You will work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and senior stakeholders to define the roadmap, shape technical direction, and ensure successful delivery of platform capabilities.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys developing people, driving engineering excellence, and contributing to the evolution of modern distributed systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers through regular 1:1s, coaching, and performance feedback
* Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing engineering culture
* Partner with Product and Design to scope, prioritise, and deliver roadmap initiatives
* Drive technical excellence, guiding architectural decisions and best practices across the team
* Support the design and delivery of scalable, cloud-native systems and microservices
* Ensure platform reliability, performance, and scalability through strong engineering standards
* Act as a key technical voice in resolving complex challenges and architectural discussions
* Communicate team progress, risks, and priorities to senior stakeholders
* Lead hiring efforts and ensure a strong onboarding experience for new engineers
* Champion modern engineering practices including Agile, CI/CD, and observability
Essential Criteria:
* Proven experience in an Engineering Manager or technical leadership role
* Strong background in software engineering and building scalable applications
* Experience mentoring and developing engineers at different levels
* Ability to lead teams delivering distributed systems and microservices architectures
* Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and modern DevOps practices
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Passion for product quality, user experience, and continuous improvement
* Strong problem-solving skills across both technical and organisational challenges
