Principal React Engineer - £100 - 120k

This is a frontend leadership position for someone who wants to own architecture, influence product direction, and raise the bar across engineering teams.
You'll take control of a large-scale React ecosystem, drive best practice, and build experiences that actually matter to users.

- Own the frontend vision and architecture

What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and define frontend architecture and standards
- Drive React + TypeScript across multiple teams
- Build and scale component libraries and design systems
- Partner with Product & UX to deliver clean, intuitive interfaces
- Mentor engineers and elevate overall team capability
- Improve performance, accessibility, and maintainability
- Work closely with backend teams on API integration
- Champion modern tooling, testing, and CI/CD practices
- Contribute to technical roadmap and strategic direction
What We're Looking For
- Strong commercial experience with React and TypeScript
- Proven track record of frontend leadership at scale
- Deep understanding of state management, performance, and UI architecture
- Experience building or working with design systems (Storybook etc.)
- Solid knowledge of testing (Jest, RTL, Cypress)
- Passion for mentoring and developing engineers
- Comfortable operating in cross-functional teams
- Ability to turn complex problems into simple, elegant UI
Nice to Have
- Backend or full stack exposure
- Cloud experience (ideally AWS)
- Experience in data-heavy or complex product environments
- Background in product-led organisations
