Staff Software Engineer

The Opportunity We're partnering with a well-established firm seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to join their engineering team. In this role, you will contribute to architectural decisions, build tools and data feeds that support key business teams, and help drive engineering quality and best practices across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain enterprise-grade systems and backend services.
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decision-making.
  • Build tools, reports, and data feeds to fulfil requirements across operations and risk teams.
  • Ensure systems are scalable, performant, cost-efficient, and operationally resilient.
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders on implementation and maintenance of core systems.
  • Participate in cross-functional technology efforts to support wider business and operational goals.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognised university.
  • 6+ years of experience in a technical software engineering role.
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals and software architecture and design skills.
  • Hands-on experience with Java (ideally including Spring Boot).
  • Experience working in cloud environments (AWS or other major cloud platforms).

Desirable Skills

  • AWS certification.
  • Familiarity with high-performance or time-sensitive technical environments.
