Director of Sales

Job description.

Director of Sales — Confidential Client | London or Belfast

Our client is a well-established technology and digital transformation partner working with some of the world's leading financial services, capital markets, and regulated industry clients. After years of strong delivery-led growth, they're now ready to build a serious sales function — and this is the hire that starts it.

We're looking for a Director of Sales who can open doors, build pipeline from scratch, and convert. You'll be the first dedicated sales leader at the company — which means genuine autonomy, a strong brand to sell, and a leadership team that understands how to close enterprise deals.

This isn't a role for someone who wants to inherit a warm pipeline. It's for someone who gets energised by the hunt — and knows how to sell complex, high-value technology services to senior stakeholders.

What you'll be doing

  • Building and owning the outbound sales motion — from ICP definition and target account lists through to signed contracts
  • Identifying and engaging net new enterprise clients across financial services, capital markets, and adjacent regulated sectors
  • Leading complex, multi-stakeholder deals from first conversation to close — often involving bespoke proposals and C-suite sign-off
  • Working closely with delivery and technical teams to shape winning propositions grounded in what the business can actually deliver
  • Representing the company at industry events and raising its profile in target markets
  • Feeding market insights back into how the company packages and positions its services

What we need

  • A proven track record selling complex technology services — consulting, managed services, software delivery, or similar
  • Experience in financial services or capital markets, either from a vendor or consulting background
  • Someone who can run a full sales cycle independently — this isn't a role with a large SDR team underneath you from day one
  • Strong commercial instincts: pricing, scoping, and negotiating without hand-holding
  • Credibility with senior buyers — CTO, CIO, COO level — and the ability to hold a room
  • Based in or able to work from London or Belfast, with flexibility to travel

Nice to have

  • Experience building a sales function from scratch, not just inheriting one
  • A network in UK or European financial services you can activate quickly
  • Familiarity with technology themes like core modernisation, cloud migration, or data engineering

If you've been looking for a senior sales role where you can actually make your mark — not just manage someone else's pipeline — this is worth a conversation. Get in touch with Brendan directly.
