About the Company
Our client is scaling its engineering function and is hiring across multiple Java and Python teams. They need experienced engineers to support the technical assessment of candidates, ensuring a consistent, high quality bar across every hire. It is a fast moving environment with a genuinely collaborative approach to recruitment.
The Role
This is a flexible, ad hoc contract for a senior Java or Python engineer to run technical interviews for multiple candidates. You will assess a steady stream of applicants rather than work on one project, giving you variety without a long term commitment. It suits someone between roles who wants paid, remote work on their own schedule, working closely with the recruitment team to keep the interview process sharp and consistent.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct technical interviews for Java or Python candidates
• Assess coding ability, system design thinking and problem solving skills
• Provide clear, structured feedback after each interview
• Score candidates against a consistent technical rubric
• Coordinate with the recruitment team on interview scheduling
• Flag strong candidates and highlight any areas of concern
• Maintain fair, consistent evaluation standards across every session
• Adjust interview depth and style to match each candidate's seniority
What You'll Need
Essential:
• 5+ years' hands on experience in Java or Python
• Experience interviewing or technically assessing engineering candidates
• Strong communication skills, able to give clear, structured feedback
• Comfortable working independently on an ad hoc, flexible basis
• Available on a daily basis (not full days) for around 2 months
Desirable / Nice to Have:
• Working knowledge of both Java OR Python
• Prior experience as a technical assessor or hiring panel member
