About the Company

Our client is scaling its engineering function and is hiring across multiple Java and Python teams. They need experienced engineers to support the technical assessment of candidates, ensuring a consistent, high quality bar across every hire. It is a fast moving environment with a genuinely collaborative approach to recruitment.

The Role

This is a flexible, ad hoc contract for a senior Java or Python engineer to run technical interviews for multiple candidates. You will assess a steady stream of applicants rather than work on one project, giving you variety without a long term commitment. It suits someone between roles who wants paid, remote work on their own schedule, working closely with the recruitment team to keep the interview process sharp and consistent.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct technical interviews for Java or Python candidates

Assess coding ability, system design thinking and problem solving skills

Provide clear, structured feedback after each interview

Score candidates against a consistent technical rubric

Coordinate with the recruitment team on interview scheduling

Flag strong candidates and highlight any areas of concern

Maintain fair, consistent evaluation standards across every session

Adjust interview depth and style to match each candidate's seniority

What You'll Need

Essential:

5+ years' hands on experience in Java or Python

Experience interviewing or technically assessing engineering candidates

Strong communication skills, able to give clear, structured feedback

Comfortable working independently on an ad hoc, flexible basis

Available on a daily basis (not full days) for around 2 months

Desirable / Nice to Have:

Working knowledge of both Java OR Python

Prior experience as a technical assessor or hiring panel member

Why Apply?

£300 per day, paid on an ad hoc basis

Fully remote, work around your existing commitments

Ideal if you are between projects and want flexible, well paid work

Around 2 month engagement, no long term commitment required

Variety, assess candidates across multiple roles rather than one project

Quick, straightforward process to get started
