Job description.

Backend Engineer (Python)

Distributed Systems & Cloud Security

Solve genuinely hard distributed systems problems at a company scaling fast

        Hybrid working, globally distributed team

Grown from a standing start in 2022 to 300+ employees, 150+ enterprise customers and $430M+ raised

        Competitive salary plus stock options

Data-intensive stack across Neo4j, ElasticSearch, TimescaleDB, Redis and RabbitMQ, on AWS, GCP and Azure

About the Company

Our client is a runtime-powered Cloud & AI security platform trusted by hundreds of enterprises worldwide, including several household-name retail, media and travel brands. Founded in San Francisco in October 2022, the business raised $80 million in its first twelve months alone, followed by a $100 million Series A and, most recently, a $250 million Series B. It has grown to more than 300 employees and 150+ enterprise customers in under four years, and has been named to Fortune's Cyber 60 three years running, Forbes Cyber60, Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies of 2026 and CRN's AI 100, while holding a 4.9 out of 5 rating on Gartner Peer Insights. This is still a young company on a very steep growth curve, and there is real room to make your mark.

The Role

If you want engineering problems with real teeth, this is that role. This Backend Engineering team is constantly wrestling with how to process, correlate and act on runtime data at enterprise scale, across graph databases, event streams and messaging systems, all while keeping the platform fast, stable and secure. You will take features from first design through to production, work hands-on across Kubernetes and every major cloud provider, and have your fixes and decisions felt by customers almost immediately given how early stage this still is.

Key Responsibilities

Own projects end to end, from design and development through to deployment, monitoring and maintenance in production

Contribute to technical and architectural decisions on complex, data-intensive systems

Conduct thorough design and code reviews

Continuously analyse and improve efficiency, scalability and stability across backend components

Partner with Frontend and DevOps to deliver features end to end

What You'll Need

Essential:

1+ years' experience in backend engineering using a high-level language such as Go, Java, C#, Python or Node.js

Experience with cloud platforms and products (AWS, GCP or Azure)

Experience implementing data-intensive systems (databases, event systems, messaging systems)

Experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD)

        Experience with microservices-based architecture

BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field

Desirable / Nice to Have:

Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, Neo4j, ElasticSearch, Redis, TimescaleDB or RabbitMQ

A genuine interest in cloud security and how attackers think

Why Apply?

Stock options for every new hire

Flexible, hybrid working with a genuinely global team

Learn directly from a seasoned engineering leadership team

Join a company already recognised by Fortune, Forbes, Fast Company and CRN

Real autonomy and ownership from day one, this is still early enough to shape how things are built
