About the Company

A US-headquartered InsurTech business is transforming the insurance marketplace through proprietary data and an AI traffic engine that connects consumers with providers at scale. Their Belfast engineering team works at the forefront of data, AI, and cloud — and they're growing.

The Role

This is fundamentally a software engineering role for someone who understands security. You'll be embedded in a team that bridges engineering and compliance — building Python-based solutions to streamline vulnerability management and leveraging the latest security tooling across a cloud-native AWS environment. If you're a strong developer with a genuine interest in the security space and a hunger to work with AI, this is worth a look.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Python-based solutions to security engineering challenges across the SDLC
  • Work with AWS security tooling — Security Hub, IAM, and equivalents — to maintain a secure, well-monitored environment
  • Maintain security data products including SBOM, asset inventory, and SIEM
  • Identify and trial new security tooling, particularly in the AI space
  • Monitor, triage, and escalate security threats; document incidents and indicators of compromise
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to embed secure-by-design practices
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and help build scalable, cost-optimised solutions

What You'll Need

Essential

  • Strong Python development experience — this is the primary language for the role
  • Solid AWS knowledge, ideally including security-focused services
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Linux environments
  • An interest in and understanding of security principles — OWASP, threat modelling, vulnerability management
  • Comfortable working with data to validate and support decisions

Desirable

  • Experience with SQL and security data products
  • Exposure to AI/ML tooling or prompt security
  • Security certification (AWS Security Specialty, CISSP, CEH, or similar)

Benefits & Package

  • Competitive salary + performance-based bonus
  • 30 days annual leave + 4 statutory days
  • Private healthcare, dental, and optical — for you and your family
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Pension plan
  • Work from home allowance
  • Top-spec equipment

COLIN MCALINDEN

Principal Technology Recruiter at Ocho

Although he has worked in recruitment for a long time, Colin’s particular interest is Tech. He decided to specialise about five years ago and has been thriving ever since. Having only very recently joined Ocho, Colin is already thriving in his new role. He can often be found learning from his colleagues in the office and imparting some of his own wisdom. Working in a competitive start-up was quite a big change for him, but he’s managed to hit the ground running. “My old employer had rigid systems already in place but I like that I’m a part of shaping Ocho.”
