This is an established provider of technology and data solutions to the global financial and commodities markets, helping clients access liquidity and make better-informed trading decisions. The Belfast office has recently expanded into spacious new premises, with large communal areas and modern kitchens, and holds some of the highest staff retention rates in the local market alongside genuine opportunities for progression.

 

The Role

Join as a Senior Software Engineer and help shape the future of digital platforms used across global financial markets. You will be part of a talented team delivering business-critical software for an internal broking division and its external clients, working on high-impact projects and influencing technical direction. Working in an Agile environment, you will take front-end solutions from design through to implementation, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and collaboration within self-organising, cross-functional teams. This is a great fit for a front-end engineer who wants to see their work power real trading and data platforms at scale.

 

Key Responsibilities

        Collaborate with Solution Architects and Principal Engineers to design and implement front-end solutions aligned with the wider IT strategy

        Take ownership of engineering deliverables, ensuring quality, usability and adherence to best practice

        Build intuitive, scalable user interfaces that support high-impact, business-critical platforms

        Mentor and support team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning

        Drive innovation by exploring new technologies, frameworks and methodologies

        Communicate progress effectively and raise impediments early to minimise delivery risk

 

What You'll Need

Essential:

        Proven experience building modern, scalable and maintainable web interfaces using React, TypeScript, JavaScript and HTML/CSS, following reusable design patterns

        Strong knowledge of HTML5, React 16+, TypeScript 4+, JavaScript ES6 and JSX

        Experience delivering consistent UX and UI across browsers

        Familiarity with component libraries such as Material UI or Ant Design

        Hands-on experience creating automated tests (end-to-end, integration, regression) using tools like Selenium, Cypress or similar

        Proficiency with build tools such as Webpack or Vite

        Understanding of performance optimisation techniques and web security best practices

        Appreciation of the full SDLC, with proactive involvement across design, development, QA and post-release support

        Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to validate approaches through POCs

 

Desirable / Nice to Have:

        Experience using Figma for design mock-ups and collaboration

        Familiarity with Storybook for UI component development

        Exposure to financial or trading platforms and an understanding of financial markets
