Financial Controller

About the Company

Our client is a fast-growing, global technology business operating in the cyber security sector. Backed for scale and expansion, the business is building out a new Finance Operations Centre in Belfast to support its continued growth. It offers a positive, high-performing culture where individuals are given genuine ownership and the opportunity to shape processes as the business scales.

The Role

This is a newly created, high-visibility Financial Controller role, established as a key part of the company's Belfast scale-up. Reporting to the CFO in London, you will take ownership of the monthly close across three legal entities under IFRS, lead Board reporting and management accounts, and act as the key liaison with external auditors. You'll also gain exposure to SEC reporting, making this a genuinely broad and technically rich role rather than a pure business-as-usual controller position. As the Belfast finance function grows, you will play a central role in building out the team, with plans to grow to five people by the end of the year, giving you real influence over how the function is shaped from an early stage.

Key Responsibilities

Own the monthly close process across three legal entities, ensuring accuracy and IFRS compliance

Prepare and review Board reporting packs and monthly management accounts

Act as key liaison with external auditors and advisors

Support the SEC reporting cycle, gaining exposure to listed-company reporting standards

Prepare statutory accounts for all legal entities, ensuring tax compliance and timely filings

Drive continuous improvement across financial processes, embracing automation and system efficiencies

Partner with senior finance leadership on technical accounting matters and policy updates

Play a key role in building and growing the Belfast finance team, up to five people by year end

Support international expansion activity and ad hoc senior leadership projects

What You'll Need

Essential:

Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with relevant post-qualified experience

Experience of IFRS reporting in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment

Strong communication skills, comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders

        Used to working in a fast-paced, high-growth, start-up or scale-up environment

Ability to work in the UK without visa restrictions (essential, no flexibility)

A rare opportunity to build and shape a new finance function from an early stage

Direct exposure to international, listed-company reporting standards, uncommon in the local market

A genuine seat at the table, working closely with the CFO and senior finance leadership

Clear progression as the team and function scale, growing to five people within the year

Hybrid working from a Belfast city centre base
