The Role

This is a senior Security Architect position within a growing security practice. You will take a leading role in the secure design and delivery of cloud-based services and platforms, working alongside agile delivery teams throughout the full software development lifecycle. The role carries real breadth: you will advise customers, influence engineering decisions, mentor colleagues, and help define what good security looks like across complex programmes. This suits someone who combines deep architectural expertise with the communication skills to engage confidently at all levels, from development teams through to senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the secure design and architecture of new cloud services and solutions for customer programmes
  • Identify security vulnerabilities in existing system designs and recommend proportionate, risk-balanced mitigations
  • Apply and advise on security standards including NCSC, ISO, NIST, PCI, SOC and GDPR
  • Drive security best practice across agile delivery teams throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Mentor and develop security engineers and architects within your team, supporting career growth and performance
  • Test the security of software and infrastructure using appropriate tooling and methodologies
  • Champion Continuous Security, CI and CD techniques across delivery programmes
  • Communicate security complexity clearly to audiences ranging from development teams to executive stakeholders
  • Share knowledge and contribute to the wider security community within the organisation

What You'll Need

Essential:

  • Proven experience in the secure design and delivery of cloud services and solutions
  • Deep architectural specialism in at least one of: AI/ML Security, Cloud Security, M365 Security, or DevSecOps Security Architecture
  • Experience identifying security issues in system designs and translating them into practical, risk-balanced recommendations
  • Solid grounding in network security (OSI, TCP/IP), web application security (OWASP), and cryptographic controls (PKI, TLS)
  • Familiarity with security standards and regulations including NCSC, ISO, NIST, SOC, PCI and GDPR
  • Experience in application architecture, software development, or infrastructure architecture
  • Track record of mentoring engineers and architects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences

Desirable / Nice to Have:

  • Penetration testing qualifications such as OSCP, CREST, or TIGER
  • Experience across governance, risk and compliance, operational security, and supply chain security
  • Sector experience in public sector, defence, or healthcare
