About the Company
Our client is a fast-scaling financial services business operating at the intersection of technology and regulated finance. They have built a cloud-native platform from the ground up and are growing rapidly, having secured significant investment to accelerate their next phase of expansion. With a lean, senior engineering team and a genuine bias for automation, this is a company where infrastructure is treated as a first-class concern, not an afterthought. They are building something meaningful in a complex, compliance-driven sector and need people who can move fast without cutting corners.
The Role
As Senior DevOps Engineer you will sit at the heart of the engineering organisation, owning the cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and platform reliability that the entire product depends on. This is not a maintenance role... it is a build role. You will have the latitude to shape architecture decisions, introduce tooling, and set standards across the team. You will work closely with software engineers, security, and the engineering leadership to ensure the platform scales safely in a regulated environment. If you thrive in high-trust, high-autonomy settings and want your fingerprints on the foundation of a fast-moving fintech, this is the opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS, using Terraform and infrastructure-as-code principles throughout
• Own and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines to support rapid, reliable software delivery across multiple teams
• Lead container orchestration using Kubernetes, ensuring deployment strategies are resilient and operationally sound
• Drive security and compliance best practices across the infrastructure, supporting the company's obligations in a regulated financial environment
• Build and maintain observability, monitoring, and alerting stacks so the team has clear visibility into platform health at all times
• Identify and eliminate manual processes through automation, reducing toil and freeing up engineering capacity
• Collaborate closely with software engineers to embed DevOps culture, providing tooling, guidance, and support across squads
• Contribute to incident response and post-incident reviews, helping the team learn and improve continuously
What You'll Need
Essential:
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in a DevOps, platform engineering, or SRE role
• Deep, practical AWS expertise across core services (EC2, EKS, RDS, IAM, VPC, and related)
• Strong Kubernetes and Docker experience, including production-grade cluster management
• Confident with Terraform or equivalent IaC tooling for provisioning and managing cloud resources
• Proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar)
• Comfortable working in a regulated environment, with an awareness of security and compliance requirements
• Right to work in the UK without sponsorship
Desirable / Nice to Have:
• Experience working within financial services or another heavily regulated sector
• Familiarity with security tooling such as secrets management (HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager) or SAST/DAST pipelines
• Exposure to SOC 2, ISO 27001, or FCA-relevant compliance frameworks
Why Apply?
• £75,000 – £90,000 base salary
• Hybrid working model, 2-3 days per week in Belfast
• 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
• Company pension scheme
• Private health insurance
• Genuine autonomy from day one ... you will own the infrastructure, not maintain a ticket queue
• High-growth environment with a clear trajectory ... your work will have a direct, visible impact on the product and the business
