About the Company
Our client is a next generation cloud security platform company that uses runtime context to identify and prioritise critical risks across cloud infrastructure. Unlike traditional security tooling, they take a proactive approach — using real time runtime data for risk prioritisation and posture insights so engineering teams can focus on what actually matters. With eBPF powered sensors, agentless cloud posture discovery, real time threat protection and integrated API security, their platform delivers end to end cloud infrastructure protection across all major cloud providers. This is a technically ambitious organisation solving genuinely hard problems at scale, and they are building their engineering function in Belfast.
The Role
This is a Backend Software Engineer position within a high performing engineering team that faces complex distributed systems challenges every day — solving new problems while constantly improving existing solutions. You will take full ownership of the lifecycle of short lived projects from initial design through to deployment, monitoring and maintenance in a production environment. Contributing to architectural decisions, performing reliability and performance analysis, and working closely with teams across Frontend, DevOps and Product, you will help deliver best in class features on a platform operating across AWS, GCP and Azure. This is a role for an engineer who is energised by complexity, thrives in a fast moving environment and wants to make a meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities
• Own the full lifecycle of projects from initial design and development through to deployment, monitoring and maintenance in production
• Perform reliability and performance analysis on Golang and Java based applications
• Contribute to technical and architectural designs, capacity planning and the definition of SLOs
• Conduct design and code reviews as part of the wider engineering group
• Collaborate across Frontend, DevOps and Product teams to deliver high quality features
• Work with cutting edge technologies including Kubernetes, Docker, Neo4j, ElasticSearch, Redis, TimescaleDB and RabbitMQ
What You'll Need
Essential:
• 1 or more years of back end engineering experience in a high level programming language, ideally Golang and/or Java
• Experience with cloud platforms and products across AWS, GCP and/or Azure
• Experience implementing data intensive systems including databases, event systems and messaging systems
• Solid understanding of CI and CD practices
• Experience with microservices based architecture
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
Nice to Have:
• Experience with eBPF, cloud security or observability tooling
• Exposure to graph databases such as Neo4j
• Background working on high throughput, distributed systems at scale
Why Apply?
• Salary up to £130,000
• Hybrid working from impressive Custom House Square offices in Belfast city centre — Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in office, remaining days remote
• Genuinely complex engineering problems across distributed systems and cloud security at scale
• Cutting edge technology stack including Golang, Kubernetes, eBPF, Neo4j and more
• Cross functional, collaborative engineering culture with real ownership over design and delivery
• Fast moving, high trust environment where creative thinking and new ideas are actively encouraged
• A platform with real world impact protecting cloud infrastructure for organisations globally
