  • Automation focused — Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or similar alongside CI and CD pipeline integration
  • Greenfield QA function with real ownership over standards, tooling and automation frameworks
  • Hybrid working, Belfast based

Why This Organisation

Our client is a fast growing technology company that has recently established a strategic engineering hub in Belfast and is investing in building serious, long term engineering capability here. They are a globally operating business with an international footprint and an ambitious platform launch on the horizon. The engineering team in Belfast is a core part of that story — not a satellite function, but an integral part of a technically ambitious organisation building high performance, real time systems at scale.

The Role and What It Can Do For Your Career

This is a Mid to Senior QA Engineer position within the founding Belfast engineering pod, joining at a pivotal moment in the team's growth. You will take a meaningful role in building out the QA function — designing automated test suites, contributing to QA strategy and automation standards and embedding quality early across the full development lifecycle. Working alongside software engineers, DevOps and product teams, you will help ensure the reliability, accuracy and performance of high performance, real time systems operating at scale.

The career value here is the ownership and the moment. Joining a founding engineering team means your decisions shape how quality engineering is done at this organisation for years to come. You will gain exposure to modern architectures, automation frameworks and CI and CD practices in a high trust environment where autonomy and continuous improvement are genuinely baked into the culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and maintain automated test suites for back end services, APIs and data pipelines
  • Execute manual and exploratory testing for new features and integrations
  • Contribute to QA strategy, test approach and automation standards alongside senior engineers
  • Collaborate with developers to improve testability and identify issues early in the delivery cycle
  • Integrate automated tests into CI and CD pipelines to support continuous delivery
  • Validate performance, reliability and accuracy of real time systems and data flows
  • Support release activities including regression testing, defect triage and production validation
  • Help improve QA processes, tooling and documentation across the team

What you will need:

  • 3 or more years of experience in QA or software testing with a strong focus on automation
  • Experience testing back end systems, APIs and distributed services
  • Hands on experience with automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or similar
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, JavaScript, Python or C#
  • Strong understanding of software development and testing lifecycles in Agile environments
  • Familiarity with CI and CD pipelines, version control and modern DevOps practices
  • Strong debugging, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

Nice to Have:

  • Exposure to cloud based systems, ideally AWS
  • Experience working with high performance or real time platforms

Why You Should Apply Now

As a QA engineer, genuine ownership over standards, frameworks and culture, is a rare opportunity. This is a company investing seriously in Belfast for the long term, with the ambition and the platform to make that investment count.

Salary up to £70,000. Hybrid working, Belfast based.
