The Role
Our client's largest business unit is building its first ever client portal on AWS, giving clients clear visibility of their clinical trial inventory as it moves through a global supply chain. As engineers move across to the portal, you will join the team keeping core applications moving, including forecasting, order management and temperature control, with the chance to contribute to the new build as it grows.
This is part of a wider digital transformation, with the long-term aim of bringing every system together into one platform. You will work closely with the engineering lead, product and systems analysts, and QA. People who thrive here are strong Java engineers who enjoy explaining their thinking and understanding the business behind the code.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend services using Java and Spring
- Develop features across established product lines including forecasting, order management and temperature control
- Contribute to the design and delivery of a new cloud native client portal on AWS
- Collaborate with product analysts, systems analysts and QA to turn business needs into working software
- Write clean, well-tested code suited to a regulated environment
- Support integration work as systems move towards one shared platform
- Share knowledge with colleagues and contribute to technical discussions and design sessions
What You'll Need
Essential
- 3+ years of commercial experience with Java
- Strong experience with the Spring framework
- Ability to explain technical decisions clearly to technical and non-technical colleagues
- Full right to work in the UK
Nice to have
- Experience with Angular
- Exposure to AWS or infrastructure as code
- Experience in a regulated industry such as pharma, healthcare or financial services
