Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Job description.

Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

  • Senior cloud engineering role across AWS, GCP and Azure
  • Infrastructure as code focus with Terraform, CloudFormation and CDK
  • Hybrid working, Belfast based
  • Salary of 80,000 to 100,000 pounds
  • Join a fast-moving cloud security business solving real-world infrastructure challenges at scale

About the Company

Our client is a fast-growing cloud security business that helps engineering and security teams understand and protect what is actually running in their cloud environments. Their platform brings together cloud posture, workload and runtime context in one place, giving teams real-time visibility across AWS, GCP, Azure and Kubernetes. It is a technically ambitious environment built by people who like solving hard infrastructure problems, and a genuinely exciting place to do deep cloud engineering work.

The Role

This is a hands-on cloud engineering role sitting at the intersection of infrastructure, observability and security. You will own the tooling and configuration that keeps the platform reliable, performant and secure, building the dashboards and alerting that power incident response and digging into everything from disk performance to IAM. You will work closely with product development teams to support their infrastructure and identity needs, and dip into the application codebase when it helps. This suits a curious engineer who enjoys being challenged to dive deep, takes real ownership of their work and likes picking up new technologies quickly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop dashboards to strengthen incident response capabilities
  • Build SLO-based alerts so the team can respond to issues quickly
  • Review logging setups so engineers can easily understand the product flow
  • Write public-facing Terraform and CloudFormation across AWS, GCP and Azure
  • Review security group and network configurations to enforce least privilege
  • Benchmark cloud disk performance and weigh tradeoffs between filesystems
  • Update application code covering logging, metrics, tracing and auth
  • Review infrastructure costs and identify potential savings
  • Support product development teams with their IAM needs
  • Build features in the development codebase from time to time

What You'll Need

Essential:

  • At least 4+ years of experience as an engineer working in a cloud environment
  • Proven, hands-on experience with infrastructure as code in production (Terraform, Terragrunt, CloudFormation, CDK, ARM-BICEP or similar)
  • Some programming experience, with Golang or Java preferred
  • Scripting skills with Python, Bash or Csh
  • A curious mindset and willingness to dive deep when required
  • A strong sense of ownership and accountability

Desirable / Nice to Have:

  • Deep knowledge of snapshotting, volumes and encryption on public clouds, and of filesystems
  • Hands-on experience across multiple cloud vendors, including cross-account IAM and identity federation
  • Familiarity with deploying serverless functions across multiple cloud vendors

Why Apply?

  • Salary of 80,000 to 100,000 pounds
  • Hybrid working from Belfast
  • Work across all three major clouds on genuinely complex infrastructure
  • Real autonomy and ownership over the tooling that keeps the platform running
  • Join a fast-growing cloud security business at an exciting stage of scale
  • A culture that rewards curiosity and continuous learning of new technologies
