Senior Full Stack Engineer (AI)

Job description.

Senior Full Stack Engineer (AI-Native Product Engineering) Remote (NI)

At a Glance

  • Senior, full-stack engineering role at a high-growth, publicly listed technology business
  • Remote-first, must be based in Northern Ireland
  • React, TypeScript and Python across a genuinely distributed, event-driven platform on AWS
  • Real end-to-end ownership, with AI built into the daily workflow rather than bolted on
  • Salary: £80,000- £100,000 +

About the Company

Our client is a growing technology business that builds the software powering a global operations network... quoting, logistics, dispatch, invoicing and inventory all run through platforms its engineering teams own outright. Recently listed and reporting strong financial results, the business is also playing an active part in some of the largest AI and cloud infrastructure builds happening anywhere in the world right now. Its Belfast-based engineering presence is growing fast, with AI-assisted development practices embedded across the full product lifecycle.

The Role

This is a senior engineering seat with genuine end-to-end ownership... not a backend role that occasionally touches the frontend. You will take a problem from idea to shipped solution, working across the stack and, where needed, beyond your own team's codebase. AI is not a policy here, it is how the best engineers already work, and you will be expected to use it fluently across design, development, testing and review. The culture rewards judgement and initiative over process: engineers see an issue and fix it, rather than waiting for a ticket. If you want autonomy, a real product mindset and a team that has already moved past debating whether AI belongs in the workflow, this is built for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own features end-to-end, from idea and design through to shipped, production-ready code
  • Build across the full stack, spanning React/TypeScript frontends and Python backend services
  • Design and evolve distributed, event-driven systems that scale with the business
  • Use AI tools throughout the workflow, including design, coding, testing, review and documentation
  • Contribute confidently to codebases outside your immediate team when a change calls for it
  • Resolve production issues quickly and independently, without waiting on ticket-driven process
  • Collaborate directly with product and engineering leadership to shape technical direction
  • Mentor engineers around you and help raise the bar on engineering practice

What You'll Need

Essential:

  • 5+ years' commercial experience as a full-stack engineer
  • Strong hands-on experience with React and TypeScript
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python for backend services and APIs
  • Solid experience with AWS and cloud-native infrastructure
  • Experience with distributed, event-driven or microservice architectures
  • Genuine, demonstrable use of AI tools (Copilot, Claude, Cursor or similar) as part of your daily workflow
  • Right to work in Northern Ireland/UK

Desirable / Nice to Have:

  • Exposure to Kafka, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB or Kinesis
  • Experience going beyond code completion into agentic or LLM-driven workflows

Why Apply?

  • Salary: £80,000- £100,000
  • Remote-first working, based in Northern Ireland
  • Genuine autonomy... build, ship and own your work without layers of process
  • Join a business at a genuine inflection point, newly listed and growing fast
  • Play a real part in infrastructure behind some of the most ambitious AI and cloud projects being built today
  • A team that already lives an AI-first way of working, rather than talking about getting there
  • Real scope for technical influence and career progression as the Belfast team scales
  • Exclusive opportunity managed by Ocho People, not advertised elsewhere
