Developer Productivity Engineer

Job description.

Developer Productivity Engineer (Contract)

A hands-on contract role improving how engineers build, test and ship software on a live trading platform, based in Belfast three days a week, paying up to £500 per day inside IR35.

About the Company

Our client is a global technology consultancy delivering engineering teams to a leading provider of energy trading software. The team responsible for venue connectivity is growing in Belfast and wants a dedicated engineer to make its delivery faster, safer and more dependable.

The Role

You will remove friction from the way the team develops and releases software, maintaining a secure, scalable developer platform on AWS and Kubernetes. Day to day that means modernising application configuration, building health reporting that tells the team at a glance whether a deployment is safe, and protecting business-critical data running in Kubernetes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Modernise application configuration in line with Microsoft best practice.
  • Design and implement deployment traffic lights that report service health and reduce manual intervention.
  • Implement .NET health checks and common frameworks for reporting application health.
  • Implement backup strategies for business-critical data using persistent volumes in Kubernetes.
  • Improve build, test and release pipelines across Azure DevOps and GitHub.
  • Support the platform on AWS, including EKS, DynamoDB and S3.
  • Work with engineers across the team to identify and remove delivery bottlenecks.

What You'll Need

  • Proficiency in .NET is essential, and the single most important thing we are looking for.
  • Strong AWS expertise, including EKS, DynamoDB and S3, is essential.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Helm is essential.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps and GitHub pipelines is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience of on-premise to cloud migrations is essential.
  • Familiarity with .NET health checks and application health reporting is highly advantageous.
  • Experience implementing backup strategies with Kubernetes persistent volumes is a strong advantage.
  • Experience with Rust is desirable.

Why Apply?

  • Shape the developer platform behind a live trading platform.
  • Up to £500 per day inside IR35.
  • Based in Belfast three days a week.
  • Clear, visible impact on how quickly and safely the team ships.
  • Modern stack across .NET, AWS EKS, Kubernetes and Helm.
  • A straightforward two-stage interview process.
