About Our Client
Ocho People are proud to be partnering with a leading financial services organisation headquartered in New York City. Operating across capital markets, asset management, and financial data services, our client runs complex, high-throughput technology platforms that underpin critical business operations across global markets. With a strong engineering culture, a stable and experienced technology team, and a genuine commitment to professional development, this is an excellent environment for an Application Support professional looking to deepen their expertise in financial technology at scale.
The Role
This is a hands-on Application Support role sitting within a collaborative technology operations team, responsible for the stability, performance, and availability of business-critical financial applications. You will be the first point of escalation for application incidents, working closely with development, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to resolve issues quickly and drive root cause analysis. The environment is fast-paced and high-stakes — financial systems run on tight SLAs and any downtime has real commercial impact. You will thrive here if you are methodical under pressure, technically curious, and comfortable working across both technical and non-technical audiences.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide Tier 2/3 application support for mission-critical trading, settlement, and back-office financial systems
• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve application incidents within defined SLA targets, escalating to development teams where required
• Monitor application health, performance, and availability using observability and alerting tooling
• Lead root cause analysis and post-incident reviews, producing clear documentation and preventative recommendations
• Manage and resolve application issues via a structured ticketing system, maintaining accurate records throughout
• Collaborate with software development teams to ensure smooth deployment of releases, patches, and configuration changes
• Develop and maintain operational runbooks, support documentation, and knowledge base articles
• Liaise with business stakeholders to communicate incident status, timelines, and resolution updates clearly and promptly
• Identify recurring issues and proactively drive improvements to application stability and supportability
What You’ll Need
Essential
• Application Support, Production Support, or similar technical operations role
• Strong SQL skills — able to write and run queries to investigate data issues independently
• Experience with Linux/Unix environments and comfort working on the command line
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for diagnostic and automation tasks
• Experience working with ticketing and ITSM platforms (ServiceNow, Jira, or equivalent)
• Solid understanding of application monitoring and logging tools (Splunk, Datadog, ELK, or similar)
• Strong communicator — able to explain technical issues clearly to both technical and business audiences
• Right to work in the USA without restriction; able to commute to New York City
Desirable / Nice to Have
• Experience supporting financial applications in trading, settlement, risk, or asset management environments
• Knowledge of FIX protocol, market data feeds, or financial messaging standards
• Exposure to cloud-hosted application environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Why Apply?
• Base salary $130,000–$180,000 depending on experience
• Hybrid working model — a strong in-office culture balanced with home working flexibility
• Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k) with company match
• Exposure to complex, high-availability financial systems that few technology environments can match
• Structured career development with clear progression into senior support, engineering, or DevOps pathways
• Collaborative, experienced team with a strong knowledge-sharing culture
