Job description.

Senior Software Engineer (TypeScript / Node.js)

At a Glance

- Senior-level engineering role at a Series B KYC and compliance intelligence platform

- Core stack: TypeScript, Node.js (Fastify), React, MongoDB, AWS

- Hybrid or remote within Northern Ireland

- Salary: £60,000 - £80,000

- Small, high-calibre team; end-to-end ownership of a genuinely complex product

About the Company

Our client is a Series B technology company building an intelligent KYC and enhanced due diligence platform used by financial institutions and compliance-focused organisations. They operate in a high-stakes, regulated domain, combining entity resolution, risk analysis, and real-time screening into a sophisticated data intelligence product. Backed by institutional investment and growing fast, this is a company solving hard problems at scale ... with the engineering rigour to match.

The Role

You will join a lean, high-calibre engineering team working directly on the core platform. The role spans backend and frontend, with a natural lean towards the API and service layer ... you will own features end-to-end, from early architecture decisions through to production deployment. The team moves quickly and expects engineers who can operate independently, challenge assumptions, and raise the quality bar without being asked. Prior experience in regulated environments is a genuine advantage; if you understand why data integrity and audit trails matter, you will feel at home here immediately.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and build scalable backend services using Node.js and Fastify

- Develop and maintain React-based frontend features as part of a full-stack remit

- Architect and manage complex data models within MongoDB across relationship-rich datasets

- Implement and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS, including SNS, SQS, EKS, and Lambda

- Own containerisation and deployment pipelines using Docker, Helm, and ArgoCD

- Write unit and integration tests using Vitest and end-to-end tests with Playwright

- Integrate third-party services including Auth0 for authentication and Stripe for payments

- Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction alongside the engineering lead

- Participate actively in sprint ceremonies from refinement through to release

What You'll Need

Essential

- 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience

- Strong, production-grade TypeScript and Node.js skills

- Experience designing and building REST APIs ... Fastify experience is a genuine advantage

- MongoDB or equivalent document database experience

- AWS experience across core services including SNS, SQS, Lambda, and EKS

- Comfortable with Docker and containerised deployment workflows

- Experience writing automated tests and owning quality within a CI/CD pipeline

- Right to work in the UK

Nice to have

- Experience in fintech, regtech, or another regulated environment

- Familiarity with Auth0 and Stripe integrations

- Exposure to Helm and ArgoCD for deployment orchestration

Why Apply

- Salary up to £80,000 depending on experience

- Equity participation ... Series B with strong growth trajectory

- Hybrid or fully remote within Northern Ireland

- Health/pension/bonus

- Small team, real impact ... your architectural decisions shape the product, not just a feature

- Complex, meaningful work in a domain where quality genuinely matters
