The Role
This is a great opportunity for a Java Developer looking to build on their commercial experience within a supportive, well-structured engineering team. You will work on real, live systems from day one, contributing to backend development, APIs, and application features. Whether you are a recent graduate with some commercial exposure or a developer a few years into your career, this role offers genuine variety, mentorship, and a clear path to progression.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain Java-based applications and backend services
• Build and consume REST APIs as part of broader system integrations
• Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code
• Contribute to code reviews and ongoing improvement of engineering standards
• Collaborate with developers, testers, and stakeholders across the delivery lifecycle
• Troubleshoot and resolve defects and technical issues
• Support deployment and testing activities within an Agile environment
What You'll Need
Essential:
• Commercial or project-based experience with Java
• Understanding of object-oriented programming principles
• Some exposure to REST APIs and web services
• Eagerness to learn, take ownership, and contribute to a team
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
• Based in Belfast or commutable for hybrid working
Desirable:
• Familiarity with Spring or Spring Boot
• Exposure to SQL or relational databases
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum teams
