The Role

A hands-on Data Integration and SQL Development role. You will play a key part in delivering a major client migration from a legacy system onto the core database platform, ensuring continuity of service throughout. Alongside project delivery, you will support day-to-day data engineering tasks and collaborate closely with internal teams and client organisations to move large volumes of data across platforms with the highest levels of integrity. This role suits someone who is technically sharp, highly organised and comfortable working independently in a fast-moving environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the migration of a major client from a legacy system to the core database platform
  • Design and build integration solutions in SSIS from multiple source file types including Excel, .txt and .xml
  • Write SQL code to update, insert and retrieve data to meet project and ad-hoc business needs
  • Automate existing processes and document changes clearly and accurately
  • Contribute to database architecture design to ensure solutions meet client requirements
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers, Reporting Analysts and Data Scientists to implement database changes safely
  • Support day-to-day data engineering tasks to allow other specialists to focus on project-critical work
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders on data integration and transformation projects

What You'll Need

Essential:

  • Strong knowledge of SQL programming for relational databases, including complex multi-table queries
  • Proven experience developing data integration solutions using SSIS
  • Experience working with XML data files and corresponding XSD files
  • Knowledge of database design concepts, T-SQL and automated file handling techniques
  • Experience delivering process automation within a data environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical requirements to non-technical audiences
  • UK work authorisation

Desirable:

  • Experience with R, Python or C# scripting
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau or SSRS
  • Background in financial services or working with corporate clients in a time-sensitive environment
  • Experience automating file transfers via SSIS and client SFTPs
