At-a-Glance
This is a specialist Paralegal role within Personal Injury & Medical Negligence, based in a Belfast office. The position offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-quality litigation matters with long-term career progression within a supportive legal team and a stable permanent role backed by a strong pipeline of work.
About the Company
Our client is a well-established Belfast law firm with a strong reputation across personal injury and medical negligence litigation. They act on behalf of clients across a broad range of claims, including road traffic accidents, workplace injury matters and complex clinical negligence cases. Known for their collaborative culture and specialist expertise, the firm offers a supportive environment where paralegals are trusted with meaningful responsibility and encouraged to develop long-term careers within the legal profession.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Paralegal to join a busy and highly regarded litigation team. Working closely with experienced fee earners, you'll support the progression of personal injury and medical negligence matters from instruction through to resolution. The role offers genuine variety, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to take ownership of files under supervision, well suited to someone who enjoys litigation work, thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to a long-term paralegal career path.
Key Responsibilities
You'll manage and progress personal injury and medical negligence files under supervision, draft legal correspondence, court documents, and settlement documentation, and liaise with clients, medical experts, counsel, insurers, and third parties. The role also involves obtaining, organising, and reviewing medical records and supporting evidence; preparing files for hearings, mediations, and settlement discussions; maintaining accurate file notes and keeping case management systems updated; supporting fee earners across active caseloads and key deadlines; and delivering a professional, empathetic client experience throughout the claims process.
What You'll Need
Essential: Previous paralegal experience, ideally within Personal Injury or Medical Negligence, with a strong understanding of litigation procedures and case progression. You'll need excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to manage competing priorities across a busy caseload, strong organisational skills and attention to detail, a commitment to a long-term paralegal career path, and the right to work in the UK with the ability to work on-site in Belfast.
Nice to have: Experience using legal case management systems, a law degree or equivalent legal qualification, and exposure to clinical negligence matters.
Why Apply?
This role offers the chance to specialise within a respected litigation practice, working across a varied and high-quality PI and medical negligence caseload in a collaborative team environment. There's clear long-term progression as a specialist paralegal, a Belfast city centre office location, a stable permanent position with strong ongoing workflow, and hands-on experience with real responsibility from day one.
