About the Company
Our client is a product led technology organisation that continues to invest heavily in its platform, supporting complex and mission critical workflows at scale. They operate across multiple product teams with a strong engineering culture, a genuine focus on technical excellence and a clear appetite for long term investment in their systems and their people. This is a business that takes architecture seriously and creates the space for senior engineers to lead, influence and make a lasting impact.
The Role
This is a Staff Software Engineer position focused on frontend and full stack systems built primarily in React and modern JavaScript and TypeScript. You will operate as a technical force multiplier across a suite of products — driving architectural decisions, unblocking teams, improving system performance and partnering across engineering to align on standards, practices and long term technical direction. Working closely with Product, Platform and SRE teams, you will deliver high quality user facing applications, tackle legacy frontend complexity and ensure engineering best practices are consistently applied across the organisation. This is a high impact role for a Staff Engineer who leads through influence rather than hierarchy and thrives in complex, evolving product environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Act as a Staff level technical leader across multiple product teams
• Drive frontend architecture and system design using React and modern JavaScript and TypeScript
• Lead scalability, performance and reliability initiatives across web applications
• Build and evolve high quality, user facing interfaces for complex product workflows
• Improve system health by addressing legacy frontend complexity and performance bottlenecks
• Serve as the go to technical expert for complex UI, state management and application architecture challenges
• Partner closely with Product to translate workflows into intuitive, scalable user experiences
• Collaborate with Platform and SRE teams to improve observability, performance and operational standards
• Elevate engineering standards through mentoring, code reviews and knowledge sharing
What You'll Need
Essential:
• 10 or more years of software engineering experience, operating at Staff level
• Deep expertise in React and modern JavaScript and TypeScript ecosystems
• Strong experience building scalable, high performance frontend applications
• Solid understanding of API integration and full stack system design
• Experience working within complex or legacy product environments
• Proven ability to influence technical direction across teams
• Strong ownership mindset across design, delivery and production support
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills across Product, Engineering and Platform teams
Nice to Have:
• Experience with Node.js back end services
• Experience with data heavy or analytics driven applications
• Familiarity with AWS and cloud native architectures
• Experience with DevOps, CI and CD and SRE practices
• Exposure to regulated or operationally complex domains
Why Apply?
• Salary £100,000 - £120,000
• Fully remote working
• Staff level scope with real influence over architecture and technical direction across multiple teams
• A product led organisation that invests seriously in its platform and its engineers
• Complex, interesting problems to solve across scalability, performance and system design
• Strong engineering culture with genuine focus on standards, mentorship and long term thinking
• High trust environment — lead through influence and ownership, not process
