Our client is a well-established professional services firm based in Belfast city centre with a strong reputation for quality and a collaborative, people-first culture. Operating across a broad client base, this is an organisation that takes its finance function seriously — offering a structured environment where a qualified accountant can hit the ground running, make an immediate impact, and work alongside a highly capable team.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a fully qualified accountant to step into a busy and varied Financial Accountant role on a 9–12 month fixed-term basis. You'll work closely with the wider finance team, taking ownership of key financial reporting, month-end processes and compliance activity. The role is well suited to someone who is immediately available or on a short notice period, thrives in a fast-paced professional environment, and can bring structure and accuracy to a demanding finance function from day one.

  • Manage month-end close processes including journals, accruals and prepayments
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain the integrity of the general ledger
  • Support the preparation of statutory accounts and assist with audit processes
  • Produce management reporting packs and variance analysis for senior stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal financial controls
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors and other third parties as required
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial reporting processes and controls

What You'll Need

Essential:

  • Fully qualified accountant — ACA, ACCA or CIMA
  • Proven experience in a financial accounting role with strong technical grounding
  • Solid understanding of financial reporting, statutory accounts and audit processes
  • Experience of month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations and management reporting
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to liaise with senior stakeholders
  • Immediately available or able to start on a short notice period
  • Right to work in the UK and ability to commute to Belfast city centre

Nice to Have:

  • Experience within a professional services environment
  • Exposure to process improvement or systems implementation projects

Why Apply?

  • Competitive Salary
  • Hybrid working
  • Belfast city centre location, well served by public transport
  • Genuine variety across financial reporting, compliance and stakeholder management
  • Supportive and experienced finance team to work alongside
