IT Engineer
A hands-on, mid to senior-level IT support and project role covering escalated support, networking, firewalls and Microsoft 365 for a varied client base, based on-site in Bangor with travel to client sites across Ireland, paying £35,000 to £40,000 DOE.

Our client is one of the fastest-growing Managed Service Providers in Ireland. They grew by around 300% in their second year and have kept growing strongly since. They are profitable and stable, and they have more work than their current team can take on. The team is small and close-knit, with a culture built on collaboration, trust and doing things properly. They deliver infrastructure, support and project-based IT services to clients across Ireland, and this role exists to add technical capacity as the business keeps scaling.
The Role
This hire sits between the existing service desk team and the senior technical and director-level team. You will take the escalated, more complex tickets that need real technical depth, and you will take on more and more project ownership over time, delivering client onboarding, infrastructure rollouts and smaller technical implementations from start to finish. The aim is to take meaningful work off the senior team's plate, not to fill a rigid support function. Broad technical knowledge and the right attitude matter more here than deep specialism in one stack, and the role will grow as the business does.
Key Responsibilities
- Own escalated support tickets that need strong technical problem-solving beyond first-line resolution.
- Deliver smaller technical projects end to end, including client onboarding, server builds and Microsoft 365 rollouts.
- Manage and troubleshoot networking and switching environments across a range of client sites.
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 environments, including configuration, licensing and user-facing troubleshooting.
- Configure and support firewalls and security infrastructure across client environments.
- Support and maintain Hyper-V virtualised environments where needed.
- Communicate clearly with clients, both on-site and remotely, keeping them informed and building trust.
- Contribute to on-call cover on a rota of around one week in five to six.
What You'll Need
- 3+ years of hands-on IT support experience is essential, and the single most important thing we are looking for.
- Experience within an MSP or multi-client environment is highly advantageous.
- A solid working knowledge of networking and switching fundamentals is essential.
- Experience configuring and supporting firewalls is essential.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the confidence to work through problems on your own are essential.
- Good communication skills and a professional, client-friendly manner are essential.
- A full driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites across Ireland are essential.
- Microsoft 365 administration experience, covering configuration, licensing and troubleshooting, is a strong advantage.
- Hyper-V virtualisation experience is desirable.
- Experience delivering technical projects such as server builds, client onboarding or infrastructure rollouts is desirable.
