About the Company

Our client is a world leading technology organisation operating at significant global scale — 60 offices, 27 countries, over 5,300 people. Their engineering teams build and maintain business critical systems that process enormous volumes of data and transactions daily, and they take the quality of that engineering seriously. Self organising, cross functional Agile teams, a genuine focus on continuous improvement and knowledge sharing, and a culture where engineers are trusted to influence outcomes rather than simply execute. Quality is not an afterthought here — it is built in from the start.

Why Work Here?

This is a company that is genuinely investing in Belfast. They have hired 12 engineers here already this year — not as a cost saving exercise, but because they are building serious engineering capability in Northern Ireland for the long term. The Belfast team is not a satellite office doing maintenance work. It is a core part of a global engineering organisation tackling complex, large scale problems with modern technology and real autonomy.

If you are a senior QA engineer who wants to work somewhere that takes quality engineering seriously, gives you the scope to shape test strategy and automation standards from the ground up, and surrounds you with people who genuinely care about the craft, this is worth exploring. The problems are hard, the systems have to perform, and the opportunity to lead and mentor within a high calibre team is real.

Key Responsibilities

Lead test strategy across the Agile team, balancing manual, automated and performance testing approaches with a strong shift left and API first emphasis

Design, develop, execute and maintain automated and functional tests within CI and CD pipelines

Build and maintain scalable, self healing automation frameworks using Playwright or similar tooling

Leverage AI tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT and Amazon Q to optimise testing efficiency and automation workflows

Collaborate with global BA, Development and QA teams to design and coordinate effective test strategies

Champion quality across the Agile team, promoting best practices including unit testing and code reviews

Identify performance bottlenecks and provide actionable recommendations

Mentor and coach team members to elevate QA standards across the engineering function

Take ownership of deliverables, managing priorities effectively and raising risks early

What You'll Need

Essential:

Extensive experience in QA automation within Agile environments

Strong automation experience using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright or TestComplete

Proficiency in Java, JavaScript or similar programming and scripting languages

Proven ability to design and maintain scalable automation frameworks, ideally with Playwright or WebDriverIO

Experience integrating automation within CI and CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, TeamCity or similar

Hands on experience with BDD frameworks such as Cucumber

Experience using AI tools to design and optimise test automation

Strong experience in API, functional and end to end testing

Experience defining acceptance criteria and aligning testing to business requirements

Working knowledge of non functional testing including performance, load and stress testing with tools such as K6 or JMeter

Experience working in Agile or SAFe environments with distributed teams

Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and problem solving skills

Nice to Have:

Experience with AWS, microservices and serverless architectures

Formal testing qualifications such as ISTQB or Agile Testing certification

Exposure to TDD and BDD design approaches

Why Apply?

      Salary up to £65,000

Hybrid working with a Belfast base

Part of a rapidly growing Belfast engineering hub — 12 new hires already this year

Senior QA scope with real authority over test strategy, automation standards and quality culture

AI assisted testing is a genuine expectation here, not a nice to have

Mentoring remit — grow the QA capability of the engineers around you

Self organising, cross functional Agile teams with direct access to Principal Engineers and Architects

Long term investment from an organisation committed to building world class engineering in Belfast
