Senior Solutions Engineer

Job description.

Senior Solutions Consultant

  • Senior, client-facing technical role sitting at the front of the sales funnel for a fast-growing AI platform business
  • Hybrid role based in Belfast, with regular travel to client sites across the UK
  • Work across defence, finance, policing and other high-stakes regulated sectors
  • Build live, working demos using cutting-edge AI tooling, rather than running fixed product demos or filling in RFPs

About the Company

My client builds a proprietary AI operating system already trusted across some of the UK's most critical organisations, spanning defence, finance, policing and the public sector. They are a specialist Solutions Engineering team known for taking on hard problems and shipping at a pace, scale and quality the industry has not seen before, with an unwavering commitment to innovation and a genuine Get It Done culture.

The Role

This is not a typical pre-sales role. You will sit in the room with prospective customers as the technical partner to the Commercial team, turning a conversation into a working demo in near real time rather than running a fixed script. Everything you show is built live using the latest agentic AI tooling and grounded in the platform's real tech roadmap, so it is buildable, not vapourware. You will be the first technical voice the customer meets, opening the door and proving the value before handing off to the Solutions Engineers who build it out.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Commercial team, joining prospect conversations as the technical voice and supporting the sales motion end to end
  • Discover in the room, listening to the client's world and surfacing the high-impact problems worth solving
  • Prototype in near real time, building working demos fast with AI-native tooling
  • Shape the roadmap, turning a conversation into a credible delivery plan aligned to the platform's tech direction
  • Hand off cleanly, packaging demos, requirements and roadmaps so the delivery Solutions Engineers can build the real thing
  • Feed the loop, bringing market and prospect signal back to the platform and product teams
  • Present compellingly to both technical and non-technical audiences, equally comfortable in a boardroom or whiteboarding with engineers
  • Travel regularly to client sites across the UK for in-person discovery and demos

What You'll Need

Essential:

  • Strong client-facing instinct, able to read a room, adapt on the fly and turn a conversation into a demo
  • A consultative background, orienting fast in unfamiliar domains and earning technical trust quickly
  • Hands-on, AI-native prototyping experience, comfortable with LLMs, agentic frameworks and rapid prototyping
  • Genuine engineering fundamentals (Python or comparable), credible with engineers and clear-eyed about what can actually be built
  • Proven ability to translate a discovery conversation into a buildable solution outline and delivery roadmap
  • Proven API-level LLM usage and a strong appetite for agentic dev tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or Gemini CLI
  • A generalist spirit, thriving on variety, ambiguity and context-switching across sectors and domains
  • Willingness to travel regularly to client sites across the UK

Desirable / Nice to Have:

  • Pre-sales, sales engineering or solutions-consulting experience in regulated industries (finance, defence, public sector or healthcare)
  • Familiarity with open-source LLMs, RAG, agentic patterns or protocols such as MCP / A2A
  • UK Security Clearance (SC) or eligibility and willingness to obtain it

Why Apply?

  • Competitive salary and benefits package, including company pension
  • EMI share options in a rapidly growing scale-up
  • Four-day working weeks in July, August and December, with every Friday off all month
  • The last Friday of every other month off, plus a 3pm finish on remaining Fridays, adding up to roughly 30 additional days back on top of standard annual leave
  • Private health cover
  • Access to cutting-edge AI tools and technologies as core working instruments, not side projects
  • Flexible hybrid working from Belfast, with regular travel UK-wide to client sites
  • A genuine opportunity to shape how a high-growth company operates from the inside, working on technology trusted by the UK's most critical customers
