The Role

This is a Java Engineer position working as part of a close knit engineering team, reporting to the Head of Engineering. You will be responsible for developing high quality solutions across client projects, contributing to technical design decisions and advising on the implications of user stories and user journeys. You will also play an active role in sharing knowledge and mentoring the engineers around you, all while continuing to learn and develop your own skills. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop high quality, scalable software solutions across a range of client projects
  • Work closely with clients to agree technical designs and advise on effort estimates and technical implications
  • Contribute to architectural and design decisions across the team
  • Share knowledge and actively mentor engineers around you
  • Learn and apply new technologies and approaches as the team evolves
  • Deliver impactful software while maintaining sustainable development practices

What You'll Need

Essential:

  • 3 to 5 years of Java development experience
  • 2 or more years of practical experience with Spring Boot
  • Experience with microservices architecture
  • Experience in 3 or more of the following: TDD, automated acceptance testing or BDD or Cucumber, performance and scalability testing with tools such as JMeter, penetration testing knowledge or OWASP, Kubernetes or container orchestration, designing and consuming HTTP APIs, SQL databases such as Postgres, MySQL or MariaDB
  • Experience with 3 or more AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, Route 53, Elasticsearch, EKS, CloudWatch or CloudFront
  • Works well in a team and able to operate with minimal supervision

Nice to Have:

  • CI and CD pipeline setup and configuration
  • Document based or NoSQL databases
  • The ELK stack
  • Apache Kafka
  • Spring Security and OAuth2 flows
  • React or React Native
  • Keycloak, Camunda or OpenAPI and Swagger
  • Nginx setup and configuration
