QA Engineer
Cybersecurity | Belfast | Hybrid
● First dedicated QA hire at a Belfast cybersecurity scale-up
● Automation-first … build the quality function from scratch
● Remote Working
● Salary: 50-60k
● Real influence on how a growing engineering team ships software
About Our Client
Our client is a Belfast-based cybersecurity intelligence business helping large organisations map and manage risk across their supply chains in real time. With a maturing product and a growing enterprise client base, quality and reliability have never been more important to what they ship. This is the moment they are investing in dedicated QA capability … and the right person will help define what that looks like.
The Role
As our client's first dedicated QA Engineer, you will not be inheriting an existing process … you will be building one. Working hand-in-hand with developers and product managers, you will introduce structured test automation, establish quality gates within the CI pipeline, and embed a culture of quality thinking across the team from the earliest stages of development. This is a role for someone who finds that more exciting than intimidating … someone who wants to own something, not just maintain it.
Key Responsibilities
● Design and build automated test frameworks from the ground up across the platform
● Integrate test suites into the CI/CD pipeline to establish and enforce quality gates
● Work alongside developers from the start of each sprint to define testability requirements early
● Perform exploratory, regression, and performance testing across new features and releases
● Document and track defects clearly, with well-structured reproduction steps and severity ratings
● Develop and maintain test plans and coverage documentation as the product evolves
● Champion a shift-left quality philosophy across the engineering team
What You'll Need
Essential
● 2+ years of experience in a QA or test engineering role
● Practical experience with automated testing frameworks … Pytest, Playwright, Selenium, or equivalent
● Ability to write and maintain test scripts in Python or a comparable language
● A systematic, detail-oriented approach to finding problems before they reach users
● Right to work in the United Kingdom
Nice to have
● Experience setting up QA practices in an early-stage or scale-up environment
● Hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling … GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Jenkins, or similar
● Exposure to API testing tools such as Postman or REST Assured
Why Apply?
● Salary of 50-60k
● Hybrid working from Belfast … flexible on-site requirement
● Early-stage equity options
● Build and own the QA function … a rare opportunity at this stage of a company's growth
● Join a technically serious team solving a problem that matters in the enterprise security space
