Senior Data Scientist

Job description.

Senior Data Scientist

Fully Remote

Senior individual contributor role with a strong emphasis on applied machine learning

Python-first data science team … clean data, real-world impact

        Salary: 80,000 -90,000

High-autonomy role with direct influence on product and business outcomes

About Our Client

Our client is a well-established technology business with a mature data function and the ambition to push further into predictive modelling and applied machine learning. The data team has built solid foundations and is now investing in senior talent to raise the ceiling on what they can deliver. They offer technical stability, genuinely interesting problems, and a leadership team that takes data seriously as a commercial differentiator … a combination harder to find than it sounds.

The Role

As Senior Data Scientist, you will work on a portfolio of high-impact projects spanning predictive modelling, experimentation, and the productionisation of machine learning outputs. You will be embedded with stakeholders across the business … not siloed in a team that produces reports nobody reads … and expected to translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations. The team values rigour and pragmatism in equal measure. You will have the seniority to push back on poor problem framing, advocate for the right approach, and mentor colleagues who are earlier in their careers.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of predictive models and machine learning solutions across priority business domains

Work with stakeholders to frame problems correctly before committing to a modelling approach

Own the full data science lifecycle … from exploratory analysis through to model deployment and monitoring

Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership

Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to team standards around reproducibility and code quality

Collaborate with data engineers to ensure models are built on clean, reliable, well-structured data

Evaluate and bring relevant techniques and tooling into the team's toolkit as the field evolves

What You'll Need

Essential

5+ years of experience in a data science or machine learning role

Strong Python skills, including hands-on experience with scikit-learn, pandas, NumPy, and at least one deep learning framework

Practical experience taking models from development into production and monitoring their performance over time

Strong communication skills … able to explain model outputs, limitations, and trade-offs to a non-technical audience

Solid SQL and experience working with structured datasets at scale

Right to work in the UK or Ireland

Nice to have

Domain experience in financial services, insurance, or a similarly data-rich regulated sector

Familiarity with MLflow, Kubeflow, or comparable model management tooling

Hands-on experience with cloud ML platforms … AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, or Google Vertex AI

Why Apply?

        Salary of 80,000 -90,000

Hybrid working … with flexibility around on-site days

Senior role with genuine autonomy … you will set direction, not just execute it

Mature data infrastructure with ambitious plans … a solid base and real scope to push it further
