Senior Data Engineer
Fully Remote
● Senior Data Engineer role with a data-mature technology business
● Python and cloud-native stack … modern tooling, minimal legacy baggage
● Salary: 60-80k
● High-ownership role with real influence over how data infrastructure is built and scaled
About Our Client
Our client is a technology business with a well-established data function that has reached an inflection point … the foundations are in place, the appetite for more is high, and they need senior engineering talent to take the platform to the next level. They invest in their people, give engineers meaningful problems to solve, and operate with the kind of technical maturity that means you spend your time building things, not firefighting the same problems week after week.
The Role
As Senior Data Engineer, you will take ownership of the design and development of data pipelines, infrastructure, and tooling that underpin analytics, reporting, and machine learning across the business. You will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and product engineering teams to ensure data is clean, well-structured, and delivered reliably at the right cadence. This is not a maintenance role … you will be making architectural decisions, mentoring colleagues, and shaping how the data platform evolves. If you want to work somewhere your technical judgement is trusted and acted upon, this is worth exploring.
Key Responsibilities
● Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines across batch and streaming workloads
● Own data architecture decisions … modelling, storage, orchestration, and access patterns
● Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand their requirements and build infrastructure that serves them reliably
● Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and alerting across the pipeline to catch problems early
● Mentor junior data engineers and set team standards around testing, documentation, and reliability
● Evaluate and introduce tooling and frameworks that improve the speed and quality of data delivery
● Partner with software engineering teams to ensure clean data flows from source systems into the platform
What You'll Need
Essential
● 5+ years of experience in a data engineering role, with a track record in production environments
● Strong Python skills and experience building well-tested, maintainable data pipelines
● Solid experience with a modern orchestration tool … Apache Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, or equivalent
● Hands-on experience with cloud data infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure
● Familiarity with dbt or a comparable SQL transformation framework
● Experience with data warehouse design … dimensional modelling, star schema, or similar
● Right to work in the UK or Ireland
Nice to have
● Experience with streaming technologies … Apache Kafka, Spark Streaming, or similar
● Background in DataOps practices and CI/CD for data pipelines
● Experience working alongside machine learning teams and supporting model deployment pipelines
Why Apply?
● Salary of 60-80k
● Architecture-level ownership from day one
● A data platform that is mature enough to build on, and ambitious enough to keep the problems interesting
